Course Description: Directed toward Spanish majors preparing for their Capstone experience, this 2 unit course aims to guide the student in the process of completing a capstone proposal and initiating the preliminary steps toward the graduation portfolio. The portfolio provides evidence that a student is making satisfactory progress toward meeting the Core requirements and Major Learning Outcomes (MLOs) for the Spanish B.A.
The course Span 300: Pre-Capstone for Spanish Majors was a helpful start to the process of capstone. The structure of the class allowed for more time to be invested in deciding on a topic for the capstone project. The reading material provided such as Wayne C. Booth, Gregory G. colomb, and Joseph M. Williams', The Craft Of Research was an essential part of the class. This book was beneficial in creating a plan for the process of research and useful in brainstorming ideas on why research is important. The goal that was completed throughout this course was establishing a final topic for the capstone research to be done spring semester 2018. Although, there is still room for slight adjustments to the title and the research as a whole it was useful to get a head-start on the decision making process and allowed for a strong foundation to be created for our final capstone project.
